Customer experience after our tour:
After the tour ended this evening, the children were AMPED to meet Samantha. We went into the Driskell where my youngest, Luke (age 7) demanded my phone, so he could catch a picture of the little ghost.
The children made the adults stand back while they photographed the staircase and looked for Samanta. When she didn’t appear, Luke made the other, older children leave, so he could attempt to “see” her, child to child.
Nothing of note happened. We called it, gathered the kids, and started walking towards the exit of the lobby.
“Why doesn’t she want to play with me?” Luke asked me, all sadness and seriousness, as we walked away from the staircase.
I told him that I didn’t know and tried to take his hand, but he didn’t want to be comforted.
Just outside, on the street, Luke suddenly yelped and jumped into his father’s arms. He was terrified, eyes wide and body stiff.
When we could calm him down enough to get him to speak, his first words were: “She tugged me.”
As we had been leaving the lobby of the Driskell, Luke felt a gentle tug on the back of his shirt. He ignored it, thinking it was his father trying to comfort him about Samantha’s refusal to play. The second tug caused him to whirl around to yell at his father to leave him alone. But no one was there.
That’s when Luke realized who had tugging on his shirt.
Samantha did want to play after all.
Thanks for a very memorable night!
Sincerely,
Kate
