7 p.m. | Pedal Steel Noah
Pedal Steel Noah (Noah Faulkner) is a 17-year-old musician based in Austin who won hearts with his daily Instagram videos, which feature him covering ’80s and ’90s hits on pedal steel. His brother plays bass, and their dog Kara looks on. Texas Monthly recently featured Noah for their “Best Thing In Texas” series, saying, “In an Austin revival of a traditionally Nashville sound, Faulkner brings the sliding notes and deep vibrato of pedal steel to his Gen Z peers.”
8 p.m. | San Gabriel
Named after the river where countless summer nights were spent skateboarding, learning guitar, and jamming with childhood bands, San Gabriel features three-time Austin Music Award recipient James Bookert (Whiskey Shivers/Wild Child) splitting duties as writer, singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Fusing ’80s style synth hooks with modern reverb-drenched guitars and synthesizers, San Gabriel creates a kaleidoscopic, nostalgic dream-pop sound.
H.M.S. Pinafore, June 13 – 22, McCallum Fine Arts Academy Theatre (5600 Sunshine). If you’ve got some idea that Gilbert & Sullivan are stodgy, or only for posh people, think again: Their Victorian-era comic operas are genuinely witty, and musical theatre fans will recognize the genre’s building blocks in their collaborations. (Specifically, W.S. Gilbert wrote the libretti, and Arthur Sullivan composed the music; see Mike Leigh’s most excellent Topsy-Turvy for the story of their long-running creative partnership.) For their summer production (in their 49th year!), Gilbert & Sullivan Austin takes on H.M.S. Pinafore; or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor. Even if you’ve no clue who G&S are, you’ll likely recognize “For He Is an Englishman” … and spend the rest of the day happily humming it, too.www.mactheatre.com

Grab those couch potatoes and get ’em to the Blanton, where from 10:30 to 11am they can listen to picture book readings as well as get guided looks through the museum’s artworks.
