The Front Festival 2026, August 27-August 30, The LINE Austin (111 E Cesar Chavez St.) The Front Festival returns Aug. 27–30 for four days of independent music, film and art spotlighting Texas women and LGBTQ+ creatives. Presented by Future Front, the festival includes an opening-night pool party at The LINE Austin, a live music showcase at Swan Dive, a film screening at Laguna Gloria and a closing daytime swim session.

One-day music passes range from $20 to $40, while weekend passes are $55 to $100 and include access to all four events; admission is free for Future Front members. Tickets $10-$55

 

138th Gillespie County Fair  (Fredericksburg) August 27–30: Head out to Fredericksburg for the oldest continuous county fair in Texas, featuring live pari-mutuel horse racing, carnival rides, livestock shows, arts and crafts, and nightly country music concerts. The 138th Fair is returning, and we are excited to welcome you back! This year, we will host the final two days of pari-mutuel horse racing on Saturday and Sunday. All traditional livestock shows will be featured once again. We invite you to participate in the Race Day Classic or the Open Cattle Show. Attendees can also enjoy a variety of agricultural displays and additional exhibits throughout the fairgrounds.

Join us for a weekend celebrating the charm of the Texas Hill Country and the warm hospitality of Gillespie County. These four days will be filled with activities for the entire family, including an exciting carnival and midway, classic fair food, livestock judging, agricultural and household exhibits, arts and crafts, a washer-pitching tournament, antique tractor displays, and live pari-mutuel horse racing.  Austin Restaurant Weeks August 28 – September 13, 2026.  the annual fundraiser benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB)! Austin Restaurant Weeks is a dining extravaganza featuring specially priced lunches, dinners, and beverages at restaurants throughout the greater Austin area. So make a note: this year’s Austin Restaurant Weeks will run from August 28 – September 13, 2026. Here’s how it works. Participating restaurants will be offering prix fixe lunches, dinners, and drinks, with a portion of the cost of each meal earmarked for the CTFB. At the end of the campaign, those restaurants will make a donation directly to CTFB, based on the number of lunches, dinners, and/or beverages they sell during the event. One hundred percent of the contribution from each meal or drink goes directly to nourishing lives and making tomorrow possible for our Central Texas neighbors facing hunger. The Contemporary Austin Arty Party, August 28, 2026 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Laguna Gloria (3809 West 35th Street) The Contemporary Austin hosts a mail-themed Arty Party on Aug. 28 at Laguna Gloria. Designed for children ages 3 and younger, the free interactive story time features books, songs and hands-on activities with Parents Climate Community and Stephanie Chavez Noell. Houdini’s Library,  August 29- Jan. 24, 2027, Harry Ransom Center (300 W. 21st). Harry Houdini’s connection to Austin didn’t end with the famous Houdini Hole in the ceiling of the Paramount. His massive personal library and archive has been housed at the HRC since 1958, and this special exhibition highlights treasures and curios that give an insight into the mind of the great illusionist and escapologist. Presented by KUTX 98.9, the mini music festival raises awareness for youth mental health through music, community and connection. Banksy Exhibit, Through September 6th, various times, 1100 E. Fifth St., This summer, devotees of anonymous British street artist Banksy can check out a new international exhibition debuting in the capital city. Running from May 29 through Sept. 7 at Fair Market, The Art of Banksy Without Limits will feature more than 200 pieces of art celebrating Banksy’s works, such as his iconic “Girl With Balloon” stencil mural.
